Well, I made it home for Spring Break.

My parents got a new couch, and have moved the old, beat-up, needs-badly-to-be-reupholstered loveseat into my room. I will shortly be fitting it with a slip cover fashioned out of a sheet.

Also to do with my room: My sister and her friends have turned it into some sort of Disney Princess themed sitting room. There’s pictures of Jasmine, Belle, Arial, Cinderella, Snow White, and some girl I can’t remember up there. There are also plastic tiaras placed strategically around the room and on a big teddy bear of mine. Pastel purple and blue balloons are scattered around the room. Light blue and pink crepe paper is hung from my door. I’m not really sure what to make of all this… at least it is clean.

Everybody is gone until sometime this evening to debate regionals, so I’m in my house alone. It’s great. I love being able to relax for a day before my parents launch a barrage of questions at me.

I didn’t bring my computer home for break b/c I was too lazy. I’m trying to use the two we have here, and it’s a challenge. The Newpaq, a 700Mhz duron w/ 192megs of PC1600, is running much slower than the Oldpaq, a 450Mhz K6-2 w/ 256megs of PC133. There are ungodly amounts of spyware on the newer machine. Windows has turned to about 80% cruft on it. MSconfig no longer runs, even. It’s really time to restore it back to factory condition. They still haven’t gotten a new video card for the new machine, so the color shadowing is still there. I may install my beloved 3dFx card for them, but I’d really rather not. I can just see it being fried… ugh. The Oldpaq has its problems as well, but they are much easier to fix. Things like have a gajillion compaq-specific items at start-up.

All my friends are out of town for the first few days of the break. Paul’s in Witchita (won’t /that/ be fun), Charles is in Iowa, Jason is stuck in Edmond until Monday for some reason, David is visiting relatives, and Ryan is going to be in Kansas all break. I didn’t mention Thai because he’s just going to be playing Everquest no matter what. :-)

I’ve got a couple of books to read here (Fight Club, Dandelion Wine, and Children of the Mind) so I’ll be alright for the break, I suppose. Between reading and fixing the comps I should be pretty entertained. If it get around to it, I might even tweak my journal like I continue to say I will. :-)
