My dad’s taking my cat, Jennie, to the vet tomorrow. She hasn’t been eating, has been hiding, and is having problems walking. She’s fairly old for a cat. She’ll probably have to be put down.

And there’s no one here who will even answer their phones. None of my friends are on-line. And this just sucks.

Jennie would sit on my lap while I was at the computer. I’m the only one who would ever pay attention to her after we got a new dog to fill the spot Carly left when she died. She would just sit on my lap and purr and knead her claws– I didn’t even have to pet her. She was skinny, even though she ate all the time. She had a very demanding personality– she’d meow at you until she got what she wanted. She loved sitting outside, just watching everything and sniffing the air and listening. She was very playful, much moreso than our other, much younger cat. She loved chasing crickets, was an extremely good mouser, and loved ribbons– especially if they were tied to helium balloons and she could chase them.

Some pictures from when she was healthier:

Here she is climbing over me. You can see how skinny she is.

Here she is getting up from a nap on the couch. She’s not nearly that fat– there’s a lot of shadow.

And now I just spilled most of a bottle of isopropyl alcohol on the carpet. Today is just not my day. :-(

  1. Cats>Dogs.

And atleast you won’t have to clean up the alcohol, right?

  2. True, it’s been evaporating nicely. :-)

  3. I am so sad to hear about your cat. Here’s hoping that she is just fine and sitting back in your lap in a few days. Hang in there.

  4. Her kidneys had failed, and sadly there was nothing that could be done. :-(
