Resolution: I will not be ignored.

Thursday, January 1st, 2004 @ 1:56am. Category: KMorg.

This year’s New Year’s Eve wasn’t as good as last year’s NYE, but I was profoundly less bored. I could have used some cuddling like last year though; cuddling kicks ass.

Here’s what happened this time:

12.45pm: Sean calls to wish me an early Happy New Year’s.

1.30pm: I take my grandmother to open a CD with the money from the sale of her house; hilarity ensues.

7.22pm: Thai messages me telling me to come over to his place, since Jason and Charles are there and I have no plans.

8.00pm: After watching Thai play EQ for a bit we decide to go to Denny’s. Paul can’t come with us b/c he has to eat with family. :-(

8.10pm: Denny’s. Jason tries to smoke some clove cigarettes but gets a long story from our waitress about some kid she knew from around here who died of ulcerated lungs from them. It turns out Jason, Thai, and Charles are all sick with the same cold… I’ll probably get sick as well, but I’m not too worried about it. I eat my fries with a fork just in case, though.

9.30pm: Paul meets us at the track and we walk 2 miles. I show everyone how to roll a dollar bill (or BENJAMIN, what-evah) for snorting various things. Some guys pulled over and asked us if we knew where any parties were. I told them that if we knew where the parties are we wouldn’t be at the track. It was amusing at the time, anyway.

10.15pm: We go to Jason’s to watch Forest Gump. Jason has switched rooms with his parents, so we almost walk in on his parents several times.

1.00am: We start talking about favorite movies and bands and entertainment-like things. It seems Jason has dismantled a computer, and I use a fried Pentium III 1GHz chip as a hair barette. Would’ve been cooler if it was an AMD, but I can’t be picky. Jason also partially-opened up a harddrive, and we are all entranced by the mirror-like finish of the drive platters.

2.00am: Paul starts thwaping me with a stereo cable. I retaliate by untying his shoes.

2.30am: The stereo cable conflict has escalated into a full-scale wrestling match by this point.

2.50am: Paul threatens the safety of my shiny new phone; I surrender.

3.00am: It is agreed upon unanimously and simultaneously that now is the time to go home. I am invited to the network party this Friday.

I suppose I should make some big introspective musing about the year of 2003. It’s still kinda dominated by me breaking up with Ryan and my cat Jenni dying. Getting so close to Sean was definitely a high point. Flunking my physics final and still making an A is another one of those little incidents I’ll remember for a while. Rediscovering 8bit is one of the best discoveries this year. I’ve learned SBC is terrible, and that I really do need to study for Organic Chemistry. I’ve seen a lot of people change this year, not all for the better. Any job can be fun as long as you work with the right people (my pharmacy volunteer stint this summer). Spring semester was very fun, b/c I got to hang out with people I was close to (Paul and Ryan) pretty much non-stop. Fall semester has been much more exciting, even if I seemed to have lost some friends. I really, really wish I was close to Paul again like I was all those months ago. I miss our talks.

Most of all, I’ve learned this: Put up with others and hope that they put up with you. Sean taught me that. I suppose it’s a version of the Golden Rule with a lot more patience put in. I don’t think I’ve had to work so hard at a relationship (friendship or otherwise) as I do with him, but being close to him is worth it. I hope Sean, Ryan, and Paul are always in my life.

HAPPY NEW YEAR KMORG!
