Coffee and GC

The nerd in me enjoyed waaaay too much this article about coffee and gas chromatography from the American Chemical Society. GC-MS and other analytical chemistry techniques can be used to pick out the exact compounds giving your favorite brew its taste. If you’ve had a semester of gen-chem somewhere most of the article should be understandable. Even if you haven’t, it should still be a good article– there are lots of tidbits about coffee and the business of growing it. Just beware– it’s a PDF file!

And it made me break my no-brewed-coffee streak. Of coure, I did eat some coffee beans the other day…
