Busy Day
Saturday, July 31st, 2004 @ 6:42am. Category: General.I drove back today. My car smells of cleaning supplies that I’ve left in the trunk. I’m kinda afraid to open the trunk to see what’s exploded. Whatever it is, it gave me a headache.
For my birthday my parents got me a bunch of stuff I’ve been needing– extension cords, batteries, tires, things like that. Nobody got me flowers or made me any good food though. Or at least not yet. Since I’m still getting happy birthday wishes from people I might come out on top.
It’s horribly hot in the apt, as the air conditioner broke. It broke yesterday, but Amber didn’t see the need to call about it because it was cool yesterday. It’s summer, it’s Oklahoma– cool days do not last. So tomorrow (I didn’t notice the AC didn’t work until after hours) I will call maintenance and get somebody out here to fix this. Tomorrow I’m also going to help Paul (maybe Ryan if he stops acting like a jerk) pack and move. Ryan didn’t want my help tomorrow because I didn’t want to wake up extemely early. It’s his fault, not mine, that he didn’t do any preparation. He should take any help he can get. I told Paul I’d help pack up the kitchen for them sometime around 11-12, so maybe I will see Ryan, and maybe I won’t.
Ryan is at some party tonight. I was invited, but none of the others (Paul, Charles, Jason) were. Nobody likes the way Ryan’s been acting lately. Ryan wasn’t home at 2am when I left Paul’s tonight, so who knows when he’ll show up. He’s probably still drinking right now. Hopefully he’ll be responsible tonight.
Tonight I hung out with Paul, Charles, and Jason. We went to the mall to see Napolean Dynamite. It’s funny… but it was extremely uncomfortable. It’s essentially about total losers and their mishaps. It reminded me a lot of people I knew in high school, and tried to avoid because their actions were just… well… not based on any kind of intelligent logic. It is very funny, so go see it. At the very least it will remind you of how much high school sucked. That’s always fodder for discussion afterwards.
On the way back from the movie a very drunk Jones called (Jones is somebody I haven’t seen in a while, from high school). OOoh that was fun. :-) I got to talk to him about how he’s got skin cancer but they’ve never seen what he has before (and that is his primary reason for getting plastered), why I never call, that he doesn’t know what his address is but he can tell me where he is right now, PLUS “I want some of that, but not if it’s the last of it, but if it’s the last of that other thing I want it”. Poor plastered Jones… maybe he’ll get a disease named after him! Sean also called to say goodnight while we were on the Interstate. I really wished I could have talked to him more, but with the other 3 in the car it made it awkward. I miss him so, so much right now, despite what the previous post may lead you to believe. I can’t wait to see him on Sunday. :-)
Everyone was hungry after the movie, but Jason didn’t just want food– he wanted something to drink, too. First we tried Bison Witches, but it was too crowded. Coach’s had stopped serving food. Finally we just went to the Mont, where Jason and Chuck had a beer, and went back to the apt to eat. Jason and Charles each took a few shots of vodka… Paul and I ate oatmeal and poptarts while listening to Charles tell us about how cool Star Trek was and how we are almost as advanced as they are in communications, and the finer points of being of the Q. Charles is a very funny drunk. Before I left Paul thanked me for going to see the movie with them, instead of the party with Ryan.
Now Sneaker is running around because I came home and opened a window! She likes her catnip’d cardboard scratcher that my mom bought her… the goal is now to get her to use it isntead of the chair. :-)
