Stepford Wives, ect.

Stepford Wives was a let down. The movie couldn’t decide if it wanted to be funny or serious, and suffered from that. There wasn’t even any insightful social commentary. I saw it at the dollar theater for free, but even then I was disappointed– I missed Adult Swim last night for it. Don’t worry, I did catch the new Aqua Teen Hunger Force. :-)

Ryan, Paul, and I were supposed to go see it together. When I got to the theater, Ryan explained that Paul wasn’t back in Norman yet, so it would just be us two. Paul called during the movie and said he’d be back around midnight, so after the movie Ryan hung around with his theater friends. They weren’t exactly sparkling conversationists. I got more amusement from a group of teens having a fight about somebody named Jamie and a dead mother.

“Jamie is trying to be both of your best friends and mine too, and it’s just not working! And then when you didn’t tell me your mother died, and you told her first, and that hurts! It hurts!”

We went back to Ryan’s appartment to wait for Paul. At this point Ryan started asking me how much money it would take for a “night” with me. Luckily Paul got home very soon after that started. Things were fine for a while, then Ryan asked me to help him find a dvd in his room. He closed the door, I opened it (I know him better than he thinks), and he got mad and stopped talking to me for the remainder of the night. After I got home he apologized on AIM for it, and I was right– he wanted to negotiate prices. He was also wanting to get mad at me for saying that I’d sleep with him for money, but not to keep his friendship. I may be a lot of things, but I’d like to think I’m not a whore. :-) ]]>
