A sort-of-real post

So like Kerry lost. Suckage. You can read about the impact on America and the world elsewhere, I’m tired of it all. :-)
I’ve had a nasty sort of allergy + secondary infection most of this week. It started last Thursday before Halloween, and I finally got most of the symptoms away– no more drainage, low-grade fever, or constant sneezing. I’ve still got a horribly annoying cough that I continue to forget to buy cough syrup for. Of course, cough syrup doesn’t work any better than a placebo if you’re a kid, but I’m highly suggestible even if I’m out of the age group. :-) Usually during the winter months I get struck with something about this time and it never quite goes away– other colds will ebb and flow, but some symptom is my pal until well into April. Taking bets now: this cold’s cough, or will it be some other symptom?
My friday has been a bit boring. This evening didn’t go very well, so I went grocery shopping to cheer myself up. I’m probably crazy– Wal-Mart, on a Friday– but it was surprisingly free of crowds tonight. I bought a lot of good food (mostly soup, plus some veggies and a citrus fruit called oro blanco) and it made me feel nice to know that I’d have something decent to eat every day of the week nextweek. I even treated myself to a Gala Apple tonight as a reward to cheer myself up.
I see I’ve gotten a message from Sean while I was out. :-) Little messages like that make me happy. Next time perhaps I’ll be around to catch him.
I’ve had a lot of free time lately, and I’ve been trying to look at it in a different perspective. If I look at it as /my/ time to do whatever I want to do, and not as a time without friends to talk with, it is a lot easier to find something enjoyable to do. Reading is more fun, so is playing SimCity 4. I’ve got about 5 hours until Sean gets home, and it’s all my time to do things that are full-screen or take my whole concentration. :-)
