Stars appear and shadows fall
Sunday, February 13th, 2005 @ 1:40am. Category: General.Despite the rest of the week not going so well, I had a pretty swank Friday night. Paul and I originally had planned to rent Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind but we found that Sideways was still playing at the theater. Unfortunately he called me a little late, and traffic was bad around I-35, and we had to hit the ATM (only to later discover that the theater now takes plastic). By the time we got there the movie was ten minutes into actual movie time, so we opted for In Good Company.
Good Company isn’t nearly as formulaic as the commercials make it out to be. I enjoyed it well enough; it’s a very funny movie. It’s got a few common clichs, but it’s not a movie made for analyzing. It’s a movie made for enjoying.
After the movie we went back to Paul’s and talked politics and caught up on what the other’s been up to. Cuddle time++ as well; score one more for Amy the cuddlewhore. Ryan came home from work after a while, and we all sat in the front room and talked. This was the first time I’d spent with both of them at once in a long while, so maybe after a year of everything being screwy the group dynamics are getting back to normal. At around Midnight Ryan and I walked over the Mont to chat and peoplewatch. Ryan’s so happy that he can drink now, but unfortunately for him he’s not 19 anymore– he gets sick before he feels the alcohol now. At least it’s forced him to slow down and actually taste and /enjoy/ what he’s drinking. I had a B52, which was quite tastey, and probably close to a liter of Sprite by the end of it. I got thirsty– that place is so smokey that my throat dries out rather quickly.
Now I’m using my poor time-management skills to study for tests that I don’t need to study for! Paul and I’d considered going out again tonight but he has 2 papers and I have 3 tests study for. Today I’ve been half-heartedly studying for Molecular Biology. I really should be studying for Physiology of Microorganisms, as that’s much, much harder of a class. Molecular is nothing I haven’t seen before, but Physiology is one of those classes in which application of your knowledge is more important than the knowledge itself. First I need to acquire that knowledge, however. My bad on waiting so late for it. :-/
Monday I might get to go out and get something to eat with everyone (well, maybe not Chuck, he’s probably got plans). It’s the first Valentine’s Day in something like 4 years that I haven’t had a Valentine, and I didn’t want to be stuck at home all night for it. Yay for good friends! (I hope.)
Bonus points for knowing what song the title’s from. Promise it’ss not as emo as it sounds. :-) (Hint: Better at nerdy glasses than you or Weezer, you emo fools.)
