The Moves

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2005 @ 10:58pm. Category: General.

I’ve been tired all day. I haven’t had any caffeine since Friday (go me) and it’s really hitting me today. So, I’ve been sleeping in most of my classes. Staying in bed wasn’t even an option– I’d wake up sooner or later, right? Sleeping the day away in the library would leave me with a guilty conscience, so I was left with going to class.

Oh what a morning it was, too. Lightly snowing, and very foggy. Saturday we hit a record high of 77F. Gotta love Oklahoma weather. It’s always warmest just before a snow.

Immunology is my first class of the day, and generally pretty easy to stay awake in. Not today. Not for any of my classes today. It was time to catch some Z’s under the guise of being intensly interested in my notes. I bent my head far over my desk, such that my face pointed straight down. I supported my head with my hand, aligned such that the palm was normal to my face for maximum eye coverage. The steady beat of time’s passing became a leaf tossed on the prairie: tumbling along too quickly to comprehend, then slowing down enough to focus on its every move. There was no steady pattern. The day moved on languidly.

Today I got home and checked TheFaceBook.com, and I had a message waiting. Score! I’d found some dude who looked eerily familiar, and messaged him. Turns out we both did CX debate in high school. His profile sounds exactly like somebody I’d try to pick up at a debate tournament, too. In high school I tended to stick to Licoln-Douglas‘ers as a dating pool (no chance of going against the guy you just spent 2 hours chatting up), but the people I’ve dated (with few exceptions) have all been of the Cross-Ex persuasion if they debated at all. What can I say? We CXers are just smoother. Hopefully this guy turns out to be friendly– it helps to have another mind to form that acuminate edge with. I’m not really looking to date anybody; this guy just happens to fit an old “type” of mine. However, I am looking to expand my social network.

Also, in case you guys didn’t know: Hunter S. Thompson shot himself on Sunday. Today (Tuesday) Beksinski was found murdered.

Do you wanna ride on the Baltic Sea?
