I’m Not Dead Yet

I had some computer problems on Sunday morning (unexpected powerfailure caused XP to freak out and not boot). My CD of XP refused to be read– it looked fine, but it just wouldn’t copy the files. Bitrot smote that cheap disc made with subpar dye. That evening Paul came through for me with a fairly recent ISO of XP Pro Corp with SP2 slipstreamed in. Things are not so bad with him right now. They’re not great either, but I don’t think he’s actively avoiding me at this point. Not certain about the others, but then again, I never am lately.

I’ve had some other nicely emotional times too, but at the moment I’m feeling better. I’m not sure what the weekend will bring, but I’ve got things to do: a 6+ page philosophy paper to write, a microbial physiology project that involves some kinda gene sequence and electron transport and je ne sais pas– I haven’t actually looked at it. The paper’s due on the 26th, the physiology project on Monday or Wednesday. I also received today a NEC 3520A DVD-/+RW that I need to install and patch the firmware on. I want to clean my room before I expose the guts of my computer (aseptic technique is good for computers as well as living things) and with the state it’s in right now (depressed moods mean depressed desires for cleaning) that will take the better part of an afternoon/evening. Technically I should be doing one of those aforementioned things tonight, but I’m a good procrastinator.

Paul’s turning 21 this Saturday, but like a good boy he’s going home to his family for the weekend instead. I can’t blame him– his best friend is also back home as well. I considered going home too (for drinking++), but remembered that Jason was one of the instigators of all the drama over the past ~3 weeks. I doubt he’d enjoy my “awkward” presence and I doubt I’d enjoy the “rustic, not redneck” (ha!) bars of his anymore than I did over Christmas break.

I’m not exactly in dapper spirits, but I’m not staring at the wall for entertainment anymore.
