Goodbye Savannah Harbor!
Tuesday, May 24th, 2005 @ 12:01am. Category: General.Dropped off the key to my old place and got my silverware and Brita pitcher. It feels so nice to be through with that place. The apartment itself was wonderful, but I have discovered that living with two other people is not the lifestyle for me. Especially when one of them prefers to listen to Top 40 and thinks that Teen Vogue is high-class reading, and the other one believes that my bad dreams would go away if only I’d place a ruby under my pillow at night. I think I can handle my one current roommate that plays WoW most of the day and watches TV occaisonally.
Saw a band called The Ills with Jay on Sunday. They were quite awesome. It’s a shame I didn’t get into the local music scene here (which is quite lively) simply because the people I normally hang around don’t do anything except go to Fazoli’s and Quizno’s. We played frisbee in the park with his friends and ate delicious picnic foods as well. Afterwards, we caught a late showing of Revenge of the Sith.
Effika’s thoughts on Revenge of the Sith:
-
Hayden Christensen’s “dramatic” moments made me laugh out loud more than once.
George Lucas can no longer write romantic scenes. Is he just that far removed from love (or even infatuation) that he couldn’t come up with anything more deep than the droll given to us in the film? At least Natalie Portman was wonderful and did her best with what she was given.
Obi-wan’s lizard thing was cute! It reminded me of Yoshi. I was expecting to hear the little record-scratch noise and bongos start whenever Obi-wan jumped on it.
Some of the fighting also produced copious amounts of laughter.
Yoda is a badass.
The movie was gorgeous. I didn’t care that the droids were annoying (honestly, who in their right mind would give droids voices like that?) or that the plot felt rushed at points. All that pretty scenery soothed the pain.
Some of Palpatine’s and Anakin’s lines were quotes straight out of Bush’s mouth.
This was the best of the three prequels, but considering how terrible the first two were that isn’t saying much. Overall it’s an average movie, but not on par with the original.
Today Jay and I burned some old notes from this semester. Our final grades were posted almost 3 weeks after finals. We are both pyromaniacs and there’s nothing like the satisfaction from burning notes and homework and knowing you’ll never have to deal with that stupid course again. In my celebratory mood I neglected to get action shots, but here is a picture of the aftermath:
Tomorrow I have a really long day at work that I’m dreading. Why must I be the only person who knows how to do the protein stuff really well now that Simone’s gone? At least I’ve got job security. I’ll be at the lab from 9am to most likely 5pm or 6pm. Not something I’m looking forward to. At least I’ll make a lot of money this week. Money is good, but hopefully this is the only day I’ll need to be there so early this week.
