Well, Fuck.

Edit at the end of the post. Just about tonight; won’t have word about Uncle Dave for a few days at least.

For about 6 months I’ve been looking forward to my Uncle Dave and his wife Peggy visiting me and my family. For the past 2 years or so they’ve been in South America, teaching at one of the American schools in Argentina. My step-cousin Andy wasn’t sure if he’d be by, as his father was home from Iraq for a while. Anyway, they arrived in the U.S. recently and had been visiting Peggy’s family in Alabama (apparently everybody has family in Alabama, eh?).

Apparently Dave found a lump on his neck. Lumps on your neck are never good things, especially when they’re just by themselves. He saw a local doctor and was diagnosed with Lymphoma. He’s going up to Wisconsin tomorrow to start a barage of tests to narrow everything down. He won’t be stopping by Oklahoma, but my mom thinks we should go see him this summer regardless. Dave is the coolest person ever and I don’t care what it might do to my grade, I’m seeing him.

Oh, and I read the first Harry Potter book this afternoon. It was kinda ok. I have the second one and I’ll start that tomorrow, probably. Do the books get better as they go on?

Jay’s out of town until tomorrow, so I tried calling Paul to hang out and take my mind off things. He’s not answering his phone and he doesn’t usually listen to voicemail so I guess that’s it. I don’t really feel like being around anybody else right now. I’m not emotional very often and as a result there are very few people I don’t mind being around when I’m upset. I guess I’ll start on the second Harry Potter book tonight.

EDIT: Paul called me about at around 12.20 asking what was up, and if I wanted to come over. We talked for a while and watched a DVD while cuddling. He is a good friend, even if he has a habit of not calling me back for hours at a time. I thought I’d mentioned Jay was out of town to him (and I thought he said he’d try to answer me back quicker because of it) but Paul is awfully forgetful. He did seem pretty concerned about me when he did call so I think that makes up for it.
