Choses Aléatoires of the Week

I’ve spent almost all of my easy week (involving no major assignments or tests) working on a new design for the website. It’s more of a skin, really, but the layout changes quite a bit. It’s also exceedingly boring. It looks exactly how I want it to, but it’s probably the most boring design I’ve ever come up with. Here’s a link to it in action if you really want to see it. If you want it to become a permanent choosable skin comment and let me know. Choice is good, yes?

I have such a desire to redesing the site that I’m sure I’ll come up with something again soon. I really love the way the site looks right now, but I’m also getting bored with it. Fixing things that aren’t broken is one of my hobbies. :-)

Wednesday I ate at Pad Thai with Paul. It was the first time I’ve seen him over a month, and we had fun chatting. I still have no straight answer on why he ditched me for lunch (and didn’t speak to me for over a month) the last time we tried to get together, but at least we’re talking again.

This Tuesday I had a little adventure. Well, it’s not really an adventure; I stayed in one place and slept most of the time. See, after watching Daily Show and the Colbert Report, I did not want to move from the comfy recliner. Jay got up to work on some homework, but I stayed curled up and soon fell asleep. About an hour later I’m awoken to the sound of crashing glass and Jay yelling “KAYLEE!!!” I see a tan blur head out of the living room. My first thought was that Kaylee had somehow broken the sliding doors in the sunroom she sleeps in, but she’s still just a kitten and can’t do that. Then I wondered if perhaps somebody had thrown a rock at the doors, or a branch broke them. Turns out that Kaylee had merely knocked over a bowl of marbles and dice onto the concrete floor, creating the crashing soud.

Kaylee and I were both pretty shook up over this. She hid for a while before coming back out, and was extremely jittery and jumpy. I tried playing with her to help calm her down while I drank tea to calm my own nerves. I awoke so suddenly that even 30 minutes later I was still shaky and breathing heavily and awkwardly. Jay found it vastly amusing, coming over to “comfort” me but really just to feel how shaky I was and laugh at my inconsistent exhaling.

Today I have designated as Fall Cleaning Day. We finally have a vacuum (yay Jay’s dad!) and now I have no excuse for not keeping things tidy. Honestly, I love having a clean house. It really makes me at peace to have things in their places. Unfortunately, I’m very lazy and can tolerate a lot of clutter, so “in their places” often means “in a pile on my desk” or “all over the couch”. Today it’s time to clean up all the shredded kleenex that Kaylee has spread and vacuum up all the allergens in the place.

Although honestly, I’d rather just build a house in Sims and watch the Sim take care of cleaning, instead of me. Don’t think Jay’s getting out of cleaning things, either– I don’t know if he’s figured it out yet, but he’s going to be cleaning the kitten’s litter box regularly if I’m the only one who’s going to vacuum. *evil laughter*
