Being Sick During the Break is Cliché
Tuesday, December 27th, 2005 @ 7:25pm. Category: General.Hope everyone’s having a nice solstice-celebration season. As some of you know, Jay got the stomach flu about week ago and my sinus infection flared up at almost the same time. Thanks, finals and thesis, for weakening our immune systems with such synchony! At least the stomach flu has left me alone so far– I guess nothing’s going to get through that nice layer of green slime that’s lining my sinuses!
One of the fun sensations that I forgot about in the worst of the infection was hunger. On the evening of the fourth day of sickness, I felt a greedy burning sensation in my torso. I’d already had my 2 frozen waffles that day, so I curious as to what would cause such a sensation. During this time Jay made some chicken ramen, and the smell triggered my memories. I was hungry! Now if only I could breathe through more than one nostril, in order to fully enjoy my food.
The apartment’s a wreck, with tissues overflowing from the trash receptacles and empty cans of Sprite left haphazardly near the choice reclining spots. I felt good enough on Christmas Eve to drive home to see my family, but all that energy spent on relatives left me in even worse shape when I got back. I was much too tired to cook anything yesterday, so I ordered pizza for Jay and I. I even gave the pizza guy a nice tip, just because he was healthy and working and I desired that state. Also, he had to take my grubby money that I probably coughed on at some point.
Today is going to be spent drinking much tea and Dayquil, and hopefully soon I will be able to clean this place up a little.
