Vetting out Another Vet

Tuesday, February 21st, 2006 @ 3:36am. Category: General, Pets.

Miss Kaylee had her first visit to the new vet today. Everything went really well, and I fell like I can actually trust this vet. Plus, their receptionist is nice, which is what ultimately drove me away from the last one.

Kayless has a relatively clean bill of health. She’s gotten fat, but we’re switching her to Innova Evo and off the Nutro Kitten to help take care of that. Her eyes were also a little irritated, but that may or may not be anything important. I’m to keep an eye on it for a week and call back if it’s not better. She’d also built up a nice case of gingivitis, so we got some special treats for her to help remove the plaque, and hopefully that will improve her gums. If not, time for kitty antibiotics! Kaylee also got shots and a round of deworming. She’s due back on the 7th for her spay, and we’re hoping she doesn’t go back into heat by then. *crosses fingers*

There are a few reasons I really like this vet (the Cat Clinic, over by Jamba Juice). To start, they offered me something to drink while wating in their nice comfy furniture. Next, the volunteer girl they had do the preliminary info was very adamant about not declawing, and the vet herself was too (the old vet was one of those, “Would you like a side of declaw with your spay?” types). Also, the vet had no problem “talking shop” when it came to things like nutrition, cancer, and parasites when she saw I had done my research and was interested in what she had to say.

Oh, and did I mention the vet is by Jamba Juice? :-)
