X3
Friday, May 26th, 2006 @ 4:07am. Category: Reviews.Jay and I saw the third X-Men film at 12:10am tonight. When we went up 2 hours before showtime to get tickets we saw people dressed up as Beast, Professor X, Juggernaut, and Wolverine waiting in line for the doors to open.
I do not wish to spoil it for anyone, so this mini-review will be rather light.
Overall: Good, but not great, and not even really that good.
Worth the ticket price? Maybe.
Why? This is a movie that lacks a climax. The entire film is high-strung and rushed so that when I watched what should have been the climax I wasn’t feeling it. This film could have benefitted from a more relaxed pace. There was very little time for character development (and as such, emotional attachment to characters is near nil in this film). If the movie had even an extra 30 minutes I feel it would have benefitted greatly. I really hope when the movie comes to DVD there will be a longer cut available.
Definitely stick around for the stinger at the end of the credits. If you’re smart you’ll know exactly what it will be long before the end of the movie, so pay attention to the foreshadowing, kids.

Aw, that’s too bad . . . Hopefully they will put a little pacing in the DVD version. Does this one look final? Or does it look like there will be more X-Men movies?

Oh, they definitely left it open for another movie. Be sure to stay for the scene after the credits!
