Four Things Meme!

Aiee! I have been tagged by Jason Clark!

Four jobs I have had (current job excluded):

  1. Microbiology Lab Assistant. I started out washing dishes and by the end of college had leveraged that into a sequencing gig for my thesis.
  2. Pharmacy Assistant. Lots of pretty pills with nifty names. I had this one the summer after my freshman year of college. I learned a lot from the pharmacists, most importantly that I didn’t want to be one. I also taught the pharmacists how to look up the prescribing/patient info sheets on-line (in PDF form) so that they could make the text as big as they wanted. I’d like to think we came out even.
  3. Trombone teacher. A couple hours a week with various annoying 11 and 12 year olds, but it paid my gas money in high school.
  4. Canvasser. I drove around and begged people to vote. Temp work, tough on my car, and annoying. I took this job because my parents thought I was being too lazy.

Four Films I have Watched Again and Again:

  1. The Princess Bride
  2. Star Wars
  3. The Royal Tennenbaums (Every time I didn’t know what movie to rent, I’d rent this one. I’d been doing that since it came out on video. Taking the hint, Jay bought me the movie not too long after we switched to Netflix.)
  4. Office Space

Four Places I Have Lived:

I’ve only ever lived in Oklahoma. :-( However, I have lived in 6 different places while attending OU alone!

  1. The dorms– not nearly as bad as I thought they were going to be. However, because I thought they were going to be awful, I failed to take advantage of easy access to friendships and the opportunity to never cook. I had quite the microwave cookery set-up when May rolled around. The place was kept 60ºF year-round, because neither I nor my roommate had discovered the thermostat until Finals week in May. Living on the international floor was fun, although I still wonder how I got paired with a Texan for a roommate (the point of the floor was to pair international students with an Oklahoman to help them adjust).
  2. The First Apartment– On my own, and I alternately hated/loved it. I spent most of my time at my friends’s houses. That apartment had a weird funk to it, and upon moving out I discovered a giant field of mold in the utility closet. I still got my full deposit back.
  3. The Second Apartment– With 2 roommates. I hated it. I moved my entire apartment into one room. At first it was pretty fun– there were only two of us and we got along pretty well. Then the third moved in. I had known her first and it was her that I was excited to live with. However, I found out that she was an evangelical Wiccan (I didn’t know they existed, either) and the other roommate brought home drunk men at all hours of the night as soon as the semester started. The final straw was when they declawed Sneaker the kitten. The day they made the appointment was the day I started looking for a new place to live.
  4. The House on University– AWESOME. Just me and barely-around-acquaintance Mahn. Wood floors. A comfy, comfy bed. Tons of closet space. Gas stove. A luxurious bathroom. Big-screen tv. No dishwasher, but it kept us tidier. Less than five minutes to campus. Unfortunately, I was subletting from a friend for the summer, and in August he wanted his room back.

Four Shows I Love to Watch:

  1. Good Eats– Yay food and science and good recipes!
  2. Heroes
  3. Scrubs
  4. ER– I watched this when it first came out, stopped when it got too campy (and I went to college and didn’t have TV for a while), and just recently started watching it again.

I’m an NBC fangirl, I guess. Normally you’d find some Comedy Central offerings up there (South Park, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report) but I haven’t been up late enough to regularly catch those.

Four Places I Have Been on Vacation:

  1. Lubbock, TX– I was there on some sort of Honors Colloquium recruitment thing for Texas Tech. I had more fun in 3 days than I’d had all summer at that point. Good food, good people, and surprisingly decent dorms. Whenever I hear Train’s Drops of Jupiter I think of Texas Tech and that summer, for that video was on their college TV network on heavy rotation.
  2. Santa Fe, NM– Forced family vacation. I would have loved to go, except that exchange student friend Mauricio was going back to Germany that week and his last hurrah party was in the middle of the vacation. The vacation turned out OK anyway, and we found that my Saturn can pull 48 MPG on lonely flat desert roads.
  3. Wisconsin– My mom’s family lives there, so we went to various locales a lot.
  4. Chicago– O. U. Improv! Went there to perform a few years back. I can’t remember if I ever posted about it here or not. Either way, it was an extremely fast-paced and rushed vacation with 14 hours of non-stop driving bookending the weekend (which was filled with adventures on the el, improv shows, and late-night hijinx).

Four of my Favorite Foods:

  1. Oatmeal. Yup. Best with raisins and walnuts.
  2. Pizza
  3. Almost anything pickled/consisting of a lot of vinegar
  4. Dark chocolate

Four of my Favorite Drinks:

  1. Green tea
  2. Coffee. I used to drink coffee in the mornings, but my stomach can’t handle it anymore and I’ve switched to green tea. Now coffee is more of a post-prandial dessert affair.
  3. Cherry limeades
  4. A large variety of tisanes, although primarily raspberry, mint, or chamomile-based infusions.

Four Places I Would Rather Be Right Now:

  1. On vacation
  2. Outside
  3. In an actual house (instead of a condo), preferably separated by at least 20 feet on either side
  4. In a magical land where it’s OK to work 10-7 instead of 8-5

Four Dudes I’m Tagging:

  1. Cello
  2. Pat
  3. Garret
  4. e
  5. Marc too, if he wants
  6. Oh no, I’ve typed too many names! I’m too lazy to backspace. Cross your eyes until the Four becomes a Five, even though it’s not in keeping with the theme of the meme.
