It sounds like it's National Upgrade Your Wordpress weekend. I just did mine two sites the other day as well. I'm glad they explode. I've had that happen to me once.

Ooh! Shiny new WP 2.5 goodness, I am jealous. I actually installed 2.5 on my wife's as-yet-unused site recently, and I'm impressed. I'd love to upgrade mine, but it's been ages since I got running on WordPress, and I think I may have hacked on the internals a bit to make things work the way I wanted. I'm afraid that if I upgrade, I'll hose the whole thing up beyond repair. I'm going to have to set aside some time to browse my old WP-related posts (which is what passes for system documentation around here) and figure out how to make a good backup of everything (especially the DB) before I proceed.

Maybe next weekend :)
